Várias pessoas morreram, esta quinta-feira, depois de o jato em que seguiam se ter despenhado em Statesville, na Carolina do Norte, nos EUA.
De acordo com uma fonte citada pela CNN Internacional, uma das pessoas que seguia no avião estava relacionada com a National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). Dados iniciais indicam que o acidente aconteceu pouco tempo depois de o avião ter saído do aeroporto: voou cerca de oito quilómetros e deu meia volta para regressar ao aeroporto.
“Um Cessna C550 caiu durante uma aterragem no Aeroporto Regional de Statesville, na Carolina do Norte, por volta das 10h20 da manhã, horário local, na quinta-feira, 18 de dezembro [15h15 em Lisboa]. A Administração Federal de Aviação (FAA) e o Conselho Nacional de Segurança nos Transportes (NTSB) vão investigar o acidente. O NTSB liderará a investigação e fornecerá quaisquer atualizações”, disse a FAA à CNN.
